Manos Del Uruguay
Manos Marina Laceweight
Manos Marina Laceweight yarn is a beautiful yarn which is 100% Merino lace, but which is also a superwash. That’s right, even though it’s a laceweight, it can go in the washing machine! I suspect you may not want to do this though, when you see how beautiful and soft it is though!
The yarns are spun and dyed by skilled groups of women in Uruguay, and this industry helps to sustain the lives and culture of their families, all while being Fairtrade too. Without this income, many families would be split up, with the parents having to work in the city, while Grandparents raised their children. Each Skein even comes with the name of the woman responsible for it’s production, so you know exactly who you are supporting while you craft your beautiful projects, or just stroke it!
Marina’s softness and drape feel wonderful next to the skin in scarves or shawls. It comes in tonal and space-dyed colourways and is made of superwash merino which gives the colours beautiful depth. With 800m (874 yds) per skein, most projects only need one!
We have a FREE pattern for this yarn which you may have seen in the shop as a sample we have knitted. It is a gorgeously soft shawl called Nymph and uses just 1 skein. Want to make it? Just pop it into your basket, and you can download it, or if you want a printed copy we can do that for you for £1, just to cover the cost of paper and printing, and we will send a copy with your yarn. To make it, you will also require a pair each of 3.75mm (Old size 9) and 4mm (Old size 8) needles and 3 stitch markers.
